Bayadere / projections
- client / Royal Opera House
- production / 59 Productions
- director / 59 Productions
We were approached by 59 productions to provide animation of a budha/temple being destroyed in an earthquake for the Royal Ballet in Covent Garden. The rendered animation was projected on to the physical structures. This `mapping` technique has been popular over the last couple of years and is extremely effective in a theatrical setting. For best results the physical structure needs to be as dark as possible with little or no reflected light, and with theatre lighting this can be controlled very precisely. Real world dynamics were used to give the feeling of weight necessary, although the overall speed of the destruction was slowed down for dramatic effect. In addition there was a layer of rock and dust projected onto a huge gauze in front of stage, this greatly added to the overall experience.
I Awake / music video
- client / Universal Music Group
- production / Rokkit
- director / Mike Daly
We completed post recently on a music video which was to be more of an art house style short film rather than a traditional music video. The artist Sarah Blasko has a great voice and unique style and we were happy to get involved. Our specific task was providing all the smoke simulations which were deftly handled by Christos Parliaros in Houdini. We lit the smoke to match the on set lighting which helped `bed` the sequences in to the overall look of the piece.
CAT / Earthmovers
- client / CAT
- agency / Fold7
- production / Fold7
- director / Fold7
Fold 7 masterminded this cinema ad for the CAT Earthmovers campaign. The acrobatic models were captured on film using a timeslice rig in a green screen studio. Backdrops were then created in 3D by Paul McGeoch and Giancarlo Bonati who modelled, lit and textured three locations based around London's Southbank. The two elements were then composited by designer Paul Clements.
Sony / Test HD
- client / Sony
- agency / Fallon
- production / RSA Films
- director / Johnny Hardstaff
Fallon London teamed up with director Johnny Hardstaff to create a series of seven spots for Sony. The idents that aired during the 2008 F1 season on ITV, are based on the simple premise of "testing high definition to the limit". As the idents were heavily augmented with photo-real 3D it was necessary to record HDRI's for each lighting set up on the three day shoot. Post production was completed at RSA, supervised by Paul McGeoch.
HSBC / Bad Boy
- client / HSBC
- agency / JWT London
- production / RSA Films
- director / Joe Carnahan
Joe Carnahan directed this cinematic and fast paced commercial which was part of the banks 'Cultural Collisions' campaign. Computer game play was required to replicate several live action scenes. This was designed and supervised by Paul McGeoch with the help of a team based at Redsox. Post was completed at the Mill London.
